Optec-Berlin-Brandenburg (OpTecBB) e.V. is the competence network for optical technologies and microsystems engineering in the states of Berlin and Brandenburg with approx. 130 institutional members.
OpTecBB is a member of OptecNet Deutschland e.V., the association of all German regional competence networks for optical technologies. Under the umbrella of this joint organization, the 600 members can benefit from Germany-wide cooperation, international contacts and joint trade fair participation.
OpTecBB is a member of EPIC – European Photonics Industry Consortium and is active in PPP Photonics21.
Optics has over 200 years of tradition in Berlin and Brandenburg with over 400 photonics companies, 10 universities and 26 non-university research institutions and over 30 % of them are members in OpTecBB. Optics and Photonics companies have 16,600 employees and approximately 2.8 billion € turnover in the region but 70% export and more than 10% in R&D.
